ALEX KIELCZWESKI — 2021-22
Alex Kielczweski played just two games (1a) with the Hat Tricks in 2021-22 before being loaned to the Huntsville Havoc of the SPHL where he played parts of three seasons. In Alabama, the 6-foot-4-inch Texas native compiled 69 points (13g, 56a) in 153 regular season games. He added seven points (1g, 6a) in 17 postseason games during that span including six points (1g, 5a) in eight games in 2023-24.
Prior to the pros, Kielczweski attended Becker College (NCAA lll) from 2016-20 playing in 92 games and was the captain his senior year.
BRENDAN DOWLER — 2022-23
Brendan Dowler was a member of Danbury's 2022-23 Commissioner's Cup Championship team. The 6-foot-3-inch defenseman registered 15 points (6g, 9a) and 127 penalty minutes in 49 games with the Hat Tricks while adding four points (2g, 2a) in nine playoff games en route to a championship.
Dowler moved on to the SPHL in 2023-24 splitting time between the Huntsville Havoc and Knoxville Ice Bears. After recording one assist through four games with the Havoc, the Connecticut native contributed seven points (2g, 5a) and 50 PIM in 48 games with Knoxville.
BRENDAN PEPE — 2021-22
Brendan Pepe joined the Hat Tricks during the 2021-22 season directly after his collegiate career with Stony Brook University (ACHA) came to an end (127 GP, 36-67-103; POST: 5 GP, 2-1-3). Pepe recorded three assists through seven regular season games with Danbury, and one assist in five playoff games.
The 6-foot-3-inch d-man spent the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in the SPHL winning a championship in his first season (48 GP, 1-8-9, 33 PIM; POST: 9 GP, 2a). The Essex Falls, NJ native was named Defenseman of the Year and a First Team All-Star in 2023-24. Pepe led all defensemen in goals (13 – tied), points (41 – tied) and shorthanded assists (two – tied). He also ranked fourth among blueliners in plus/minus (+24) and was one of just 10 players to appear in all 56 games. Additionally, his 41 points and 67 penalty minutes were both career highs.
BRIAN WILSON — 2021-23
Brian Wilson was the starting goalie for Hat Tricks championship-winning squad in 2022-23. The Mississauga, ONT, CAN native played 41 regular season games with the Hat Tricks and finished the regular season with a 31-5-0 record, 2.68 goals against average, a .919 save percentage. His 31 wins are an FPHL single-season record. During the playoffs, the 2022-23 FPHL Co-Goaltender of the Year won seven of 11 games, averaging 2.75 goals against and a .924 save percentage. Wilson is Danbury's all-time franchise leader in wins (42) and shutouts (2).
In 2023-24, Wilson moved on to the Huntsville Havoc (SPHL) where he played 32 regular season games and had a record of 16-10-5 with a 2.63 GAA, .907 save percentage and two shutouts. He played one playoff game with the Havoc (.947 SV%).
Wilson played his college hockey at Niagara University (2017-21) before starting his career in the SPHL. Since joining pro hockey, the six-foot-four-inch netminder has had stops with the Evansville Thunderbolts, Vermillion County Bobcats, Birmingham Bulls, and Huntsville Havoc (SPHL), Cincinnati Cyclones, Worcester Railers, and Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL), and Springfield Thunderbird and Belleville Senators (AHL).
CARTER SHINKARUK — 2019-20
After parts of four seasons in the SPHL (Idaho Steelheads, Huntsville Havoc, and Evansville Thunderbolts), Carter Shinkaruk played 39 games with the Hat Tricks in 2019-20 recording 62 points (24g, 38a) and +26 rating.
Since leaving Danbury, the Langley, BC, CAN native has bounced around the SPHL and ECHL and in 2023-24 suited up in 52 games for the Columbus River Dragons of the FPHL (16-24-40, 46 PIM, +35).
The forward/defenseman spent parts of the '21-'22 and '22-’23 seasons with the Iowa Heartlanders (ECHL). Shinkaruk played 23 games for the Heartlanders where he put up 10 points (1g, 9a).
In the 2022-23 season, he played for the Quad City Storm and Fayetteville Marksmen. The 5-foot-10-inch blue liner dressed in 30 games for Quad City (3-11-14), and 16 regular season games for Fayetteville (4a). He played three playoff games for the Marksmen where he recorded two assists.
DANIEL AMESBURY — 2022-24
After a seven year absence, Daniel Amesbury returned to the ice with the Hat Tricks during their championship season in 2022-23. The enforcer potted a goal and eight assists in 29 regular season games adding a goal during the cup run (five games). That season, the 6-foot-1-inch forward led all of the professional hockey in penalty minutes with 298 plus 47 in the playoffs. The following season, the Maple Ridge, BC, CAN played just nine games for Danbury before being indefinitely suspended by the Federal Prospects Hockey League on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. No specific incidents were cited in the league’s decision to enforce the indefinite suspension. Amesbury was already 12 games into an 18-game suspension which resulted from a hit on Dec. 2 against Motor City.
Following a brief two game stint with Vail Yeti in the MountainHL, Amesbury closed out the 2023-24 season in the ECHL with the Fort Wayne Komets where he suited up in 13 games.
DILLON KELLEY — 2019-20
Dillon Kelley played 22 games with Danbury during the 2019-20 season. The 6-foot-5-inch goaltender was 13-6-3 with a .905 save percentage and a 3.52 goals against average. During the season, Kelley was loaned to the Peoria Rivermen in the SPHL where he played two games (3.61 GAA and .879 SV%).
The Petoskey, Michigan native began the 2021-22 season in the SPHL with the Macon Mayhem (13 GP, .913 SV% and 3.06 GAA, 1 SO). He jumped up to the ECHL with the Kansas City Mavericks (1 GP, .967 SV%) and Rapid City Rush (14 GP, 2.98 GAA, .910 SV%) in the ECHL. Kelley also saw action in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights, dressing in four games earning a win (.861 SV%, 4.03 GAA).
Kelley spent two full seasons with the Kansas City Mavericks from 2022-24 seasons appearing in 35 games and winning 21. The 6-foot-5-inch goalie posted an .894 save percentage and a 3.05 goals against.
Prior to joining the Hat Tricks, Kelley enjoyed stints in the SPHL with the Fayetteville Marksmen and in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder.
JOHN MACDONALD — 2021-24
John Macdonald joined the Hat Tricks in 2021-22 season where he played 43 regular season games and contributed six goals and 24 assists. He also earned two helpers in four playoff games that same campaign. During the Hat Tricks’ championship run in 2022-23, the Canonsburg, PA native dressed in 48 regular season games totaling 37 points (8g, 29a) and 70 penalty minutes as well as six assists in 10 playoff games.
The 6-foot-2-inch defenseman was loaned to the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL) for the remainder of the season where he suited up in three games.
In 2023-24, Macdonald appeared in seven games for Danbury (1-6-7) before being loaned to Roanoke again for the rest of the season. With the Rail Yard Dawgs, he added six goals and16 assists for a total of 22 points in 36 regular season games, and an assist in three playoff contests.
MICHAEL MARCHESAN — 2022-23
Michael Marchesan was the hero in Danbury's Commissioner's Cup run in 2022-23 scoring the overtime game-winning goal in Game 5 of the finals against the Carolina Thunderbirds. During the regular campaign, the 6-foot-5-inch forward put up 58 points (34g, 24a) in 46 games after coming over from the Binghamton Black Bears. In the playoffs, his eight goals, five assists, and cup-clinching goal over a 10-game span earned him Playoff MVP honors.
The following season, the Burlington, ON, CAN native suited up in 58 games with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL logging 22 points (12g, 10a) in 58 games.
NICOLA LÉVESQUE — 2019-22
Nicola Lévesque played his first season with the Hat Tricks in 2019-20 season compiling 52 points (19g, 33a) in 46 regular season games. In 2021-22, 6-foot-2-inch forward notched 13 goals and eight assists in 16 regular season games, as well as five points (2g, 3a) in five playoff tilts. Additionally, he served as a player-assistant coach for the team.
The winger from Trois-Rivières, QC, CAN played the next two seasons with the Quad City Storm (SPHL), where he recorded ten goals and six assists in 51 regular season games.
Riley Robertson — 2022-24
Riley Robertson joined the Hat Tricks in the 2022-23 and was a part of the championship-winning team. The 6-foot-6-inch defenseman dressed in 28 regular season games (1a, 113 PIM) while registering four points (1g, 3a) in 10 playoff games.
In 2023-24, the Saugeen Shores, ON, CAN native began the season with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL dressing in 47 regular season games (1g, 9a) before returning to Danbury for one game.
Sam Dabrowski — 2023-24
Sam Dabrowski began his professional hockey career with the Hat Tricks in 2023-24 following four years at D-lll Hamline University (80 GP, 17-16-33). After the 6-foot-4-inch winger netted seven goals and 13 points through 12 games, he spent the rest of the season in the SPHL, splitting time between the Pensacola Ice Flyers and the Knoxville Ice Bears. The forward from Onalaska, Wisconsin accounted for five points (2g, 3a) in nine games with Pensacola, and seven points (2g, 5a) in 21 games with Knoxville.
Zak Sheikh — 2019-20
Zak Sheikh started his first professional hockey career with the Hat Tricks in 2019-20 appearing in just two games (2a) after finishing two seasons at Lebanon Valley College (45 GP, 7a, 36 PIM).
In 2021-22, the Stockholm, NJ native played three games for the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL) before dressing in 20 games for the Vermilion County Bobcats (SPHL).
