DANBURY — The Danbury Hat Tricks have signed former Danbury Trasher and Danbury Whaler Alex Goupil to a celebrity contract for Saturday night’s game (Dec. 14) against the HC Venom.

Goupil’s professional hockey career began at the age of 21 with two memorable seasons as a member of the Danbury Trashers from 2004 to 2006. Known for his dependability, durability, and willingness to mix it up when needed, the Ottawa, Ontario native quickly became a fan favorite. On the scoresheet, Goupil recorded an impressive 94 points (50 goals, 44 assists) and 128 penalty minutes in 136 games, earning a reputation as a versatile player who could score, set up teammates, and bring physicality to the ice.

Following his time with the Trashers, Goupil played one more season in the UHL with the Bloomington PrairieThunder, where he tallied 23 goals, 22 assists, and 76 penalty minutes in 67 games. He then spent two seasons in the CHL, splitting time between the Wichita Thunder and Laredo Bucks.

In 2011-12, Goupil returned to Danbury, suiting up for the Whalers (FHL) and leaving a lasting mark. In just six regular-season games, he put up 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists), then carried that momentum into the playoffs, where he notched 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in eight games.

Before rejoining the Danbury hockey scene, Goupil dominated with the FHL's 1000 Island Privateers, leading the league in goals (42) and points (77) during the 2010-11 season and earning a spot on the All-FHL Team.

Now 41, Goupil brings his veteran experience and legacy back to the Hat City. The Danbury Hat Tricks are thrilled to welcome him back to Danbury!
